About the work unit / facility
The Diabetes and Endocrine team, located at the Townsville University Hospital, supports general medicine and endocrine disorders in pregnancy with the obstetric medicine unit, insulin pump management, in patient management, diabetes high risk foot service, outpatient paediatric diabetes and endocrine clinics, and telehealth services.

Competitive salary and benefits:
We offer attractive remuneration packages and generous leave entitlements.
- Salary range: $54.44 to $58.30 p.h. (Nurse Grade 6 Band 1)
- 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading
- 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation
- Plus Salary Sacrificing options may be available
About your opportunity
The Diabetes Nurse Educator is to provide leadership, support, education and engage in research activities within the multidisciplinary team to ensure the provision of best practice Diabetes and Endocrinology care within a continuum of care framework.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent certification relevant to the position is mandatory.
- Essential: Possession of a relevant postgraduate qualification in an appropriate field is highly desirable. Such experience may be discipline specific or have a service area focus.
- Highly Desirable: Credentialed status (or willingness to undertake and complete requirements) with the Australian Diabetes Educators Association.
- Experience in the education and support of patients with diabetes is essential particularly in relation to the use of insulin pump, CGM devices and relevant software.
- This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role
